PSIM can be used in various applications in consumer electronics such as switchmode power supplies, power management, and PWM IC design.
The figure below, for example, shows a boost power supply with power factor correction controlled by TI's UC3854 PWM IC. Most of the IC functions are modeled, including under-voltage lockout, peak current limit, and soft start.
This circuit requires high-frequency switching, yet at the same time needs to simulate multiple cycles at the ac line frequency. As one of the fastest simulators for power electronics, PSIM can simulate these type of circuits very quickly.
Another example is the flyback power supply with multiple outputs, as shown below. The circuit is controlled by TI's UC3844 PWM IC.
PSIM provides many commonly used devices as built-in blocks, such as the diode bridge and the 5-winding transformer in this circuit, making it very easy to set up a circuit.
