PSIM has the capability to simulate power conversion and motor drive systems in automotive and transportation applications.
The figure below, for example, shows an IPM (internal permanent motor) drive system that can be found in automotive applications. The motor can be modeled using the built-in equivalent circuit model in PSIM for its speed and simplicity. Alternatively, the motor can be modeled in a finite element analysis software for a detailed analysis in a co-simulation environment where the power converter and control part of the system is still implemented in PSIM. The figure shows the images of the motor in the finite element analysis software JMAG.
